  • There is no 'one size fits all!' Customize your resume to complement the position.

  • Do not simply copy and paste duties and responsibilities from your position or job description into your resume. Ensure your resume incorporates accomplishments because they better reflect your effectiveness.

  • Your resume should contain measurable results highlighting your ability to meet and exceed an organization's strategic goals.

  • Consider excluding work history or experience greater than 10 years old- it is considered stale!

  • A standard private-sector resume should consist of approximately 2- pages. In contrast, a federal resume is not restricted to a page count (except SES resumes). Your resume should appropriately describe your experience, which can be done in approximately 5 pages or less.
